Celeste Tote Bag

One face is asleep. The other is wide awake. They go out together anyway.

A silver crescent lies back across a navy sky, her profile drawn in fine lace, eyes closed. The gold sun rests in the curve of her, face forward and both eyes open, rays running out past the moon on every side. Seven phases arc above them, a thin sliver at each end and the full moon at the top. Below hangs gold chain and beading with three feathers on it: one silver, one gold, one that changes its mind halfway down.

The other side goes quiet. A small silver crescent floats near the middle, curled with that same engraving, and constellations come out around it — gold stars joined by dotted gold lines, wandering off past the edges. Behind both sides sits a second mandala, a navy one shade darker than the sky. You catch that one about the third day of owning it.

The plain facts about the bag itself

• Two different artworks, one bag — the back is not a repeat of the front, so whichever way you set it down there is something worth looking at
• Black woven webbing handles — flat, matte, dark enough to keep well out of the print's way
• A zip along the top — a black tab at one corner draws it closed, so the opening is not left gaping while the bag sits by your feet
