Iris Winter Boots

A neon lotus across the toe, and the seven climbing the shaft above it.

The lotus comes first because it is what you see: drawn in outline across the front of each boot, the outermost petals magenta, a rank of cyan and blue rising behind them, and the middle worked green shading up into gold, with specks of gold thrown around it. Higher up the shaft sits the rosette — violet and magenta petals at the rim, blue behind them, then green-teal, a gold beaded ring, and a small red centre.

The seven chakra symbols run in a straight line down the boot, starting with the violet crown up near the cream trim and descending from there: indigo for the third eye, blue for the throat, its circle fenced round with small points, green for the heart, and on down through gold, orange and the red root. Crown at the top, root at the bottom, the way the old diagrams have always drawn it — which on a boot means the order actually agrees with the body wearing it. The black carrying all of it is worked with a mandala one tone deeper, and it surfaces at the ankle and around the heel as you turn.

The boot itself

Deep, soft trim rings the collar, cream against all that black. Inside, the boot is padded — a soft layer running the length of it, behind the lining. The print is the part that gets looked at; the padding is the part that makes it warm. Underneath, a thick black lugged sole with deep cleats cut across it. The lacing runs black through two solid studs at the top of each row and five open eyelets below them, and the toe is cut round and blunt, which is what gives the lotus a full face to open across.

On sizing

US 4.5 to 14 with every half size in place. Half sizes are the quiet test of whether a range was built for feet or for spreadsheets, and this one has all of them.
