Lotus Socks

One sock is the flower. The other is the road to it.

The open one first. A lotus takes most of the leg: each petal carrying a fine gold contour, pale cream where it tips over and deepening to blush at the root, gold veins reaching down the whole of it. The seed pod at its centre is gold and pitted like a honeycomb. Sage leaves trail away underneath, stray petals hang above, and gold sparks sit between them.

Now read the other one from the foot up

Its partner carries that same flower rebuilt out of flat geometric petals (plum, sage, blush, cream) on one gold stem, with a little column of gold beads set above it. Below the flower that stem carries on down and becomes an unalome. From the bottom of the leg upward, it is:

1. a spiral, two and a half coils of it
2. two ranks of loops, each threaded through the next
3. one straight line, up to the flower and out through the top of it

People who use the mark read it as a life: the going round at the start, the knots in the middle, the straight part afterwards. We are not going to tell you which bit yours is on.

The plain part

Black toe, black heel, and the wine ground carries a mandala a half tone deeper than itself, henna-fine, up over the cuff and on down across the foot. A single size, women's.

Printed after you order and not before, which is why this one never quietly drops out of the range, and why yours, five to ten working days in the making, had one owner from the start. Wear them where nobody can see them, if you like. You will know.
