Iris High Top Sneakers

The rosette does the talking. The rest of the shoe stays out of its way.

On one side of the shoe, a big rainbow rosette fills the black: petals of magenta and violet around the outside, blue banked in behind them, green-teal further in again, then a belt of gold beadwork, and a small red lotus burning at the middle. The other side carries the seven chakra symbols stacked in a straight vertical line, each drawn in neon outline and each in its own colour — red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet. A smaller rainbow lotus opens across the toe. Gold star specks sit scattered over everything, and the black underneath is not plain black at all: a mandala is worked through it one tone deeper, filling the quarter panels and running on under the artwork, so the shoe keeps giving things up as the light moves.

The shoe under the artwork comes two ways

• White — a white sole edged with one thin black line, white laces, and white rubber capping the toe. The pale frame throws the neon forward and the black panels read as a window rather than a wall
• Black — black underfoot, black through the laces, black at the toe. Nothing interrupts the print; the colour is the only thing on the shoe with anything to say. Eyelets stay silver on both

Sizes, including the ones that usually get cut

US 4.5 to 14, and the halves are all present. A 6.5 is a 6.5 here, not a 6 you squeeze into or a 7 you pad out. Nobody's foot is a whole number just because ranges are cheaper to make that way.

Each pair gets printed once you have chosen the size and the colour, which is the whole reason neither ever runs out. It takes a while, and then it is yours.
