Description
All that color, and the boot is still black.
Iris carried the rainbow between worlds. This is her boot: black from collar to sole, with the whole spectrum laid over it in neon line.
One side holds the mandala. Magenta and violet petals at the rim, a ring of blue inside them, then green-teal, and in the center a gold disc worked in fine beadwork around a small red lotus with a lit core. Read it rim to core and the color goes violet down to red, which is exactly the way the other side runs, top to bottom.
Because the other side is where the seven live, stacked in one straight column down the shaft. The violet crown first, its petals fanning around an open middle. A purple third eye between two side petals. A blue throat ringed in fine points. A green heart built from two crossed triangles. A gold solar plexus, an orange sacral, and at the bottom the red root: a triangle set inside a square. A gold starburst hangs just above the crown. These are the chakra symbols as the old diagrams draw them, in the order they belong in: you know what the line says, and most people simply see the color. Each toe cap gets its own lotus in the same neon line, opening wide across the front, magenta at the outer petals, cyan and blue standing up behind them, a green-and-gold heart in the middle.
The black beneath all of it is not flat. A whole mandala is printed into the ground one tone deeper (petals, arches, dotted lacework running up the shaft and over the vamp), and it surfaces only where light rakes across it. Gold stars sit scattered on top, most no bigger than a pinhead. Hardware stays quiet: plain black cord for the laces, eyelets in dark gunmetal, and a black webbing loop at the heel for pulling them on. The sole goes two-tone underneath: black around the rim, gum brown where the lugs meet the ground.
The skin the drawing sits on
Premium Microfiber Leather: matte in the face and close in the grain. Matte is what black this deep needs: no glare skidding along the shaft, so the neon keeps its edge and the shadow mandala stays readable. Cleaning is a wipe.
This is our premium line. We chose this upper because it holds the print color the same from one batch to the next, so the pair that arrives matches the pair you picked here.
Three things to settle before you order
- Standard or Wide. Both are right there in the fit menu at the top of this page. Choosing Wide takes one tap.
- The half step. The size list begins at US 4.5, ends at 14, and skips no halves along the way. If you have spent years rounding up to whatever the shop had, you can stop.
- Toe room. The front is cut round and generous, so the wide part of your foot has somewhere to go.
The unglamorous part
The footbed is cushioned foam and it is comfortable immediately. No breaking-in period stands between you and the first long day in them. It also lifts out whole, which is what matters if you carry your own insoles from shoe to shoe. The print is sealed under a water-based coat; that is a dull sentence with one practical result, which is that you can open the box indoors and nobody has to leave the room. And the lug sole is cement-bonded: heat activates the bond, pressure holds it while it sets.
Every Iris is printed and assembled after the order lands. Production runs five to ten working days, then it ships.
Shipping
Nothing waits in a box for you. Each pair gets printed, cut and assembled after you order, so two timers run back to back.
Building your pair: 5 to 10 business days at the workshop.
Delivery, from the day it ships:
- United States: 7 to 15 business days
- United Kingdom: 10 to 18 business days
- Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the EU: 10 to 20 business days
- Everywhere else: 15 to 25 business days
Most pairs land two to five weeks after checkout. Dressing for a date? Leave room.
What it costs: $14.99 for the first pair inside the United States, $16.99 to Canada, $14.99 everywhere else we ship. Every further pair on the same order adds $9.99, so two pairs to a US address ship for $24.98. Socks post on their own at $4.99 a pair and tote bags at $6.99 each, the same price everywhere and whether or not boots travel with them. The figure appears at checkout once you enter an address, and nothing is added after you pay.
A tracking number lands in your inbox the moment the box leaves. Once a parcel crosses a border, import duty or tax may be charged on arrival by the customs office in the destination country.
Wrong size on arrival? One size exchange with every order. It can move you two sizes at most, and the clock runs 30 days from delivery. What changes is who pays the freight: orders carrying Return & Exchange Protection send the pair back and the replacement out at our cost, and orders without it are billed for those two shipments. Questions, answered
Wide fit, half sizes, and the rest
Straight answers before you choose a size. The full Standard against Wide figures live on the Size Chart. Anything else, email cs@sunayla.com; a person reads it.
Do these come in a wide fit?
Yes. Every Leather Boots Edition is built in two fits, Standard and Wide, and Wide covers the whole run, US 4.5 to 14 in every half size. Pick Wide under Fit, then choose the size your foot measures. The artwork is the same either way.
What is actually different about the Wide fit?
Room around the foot, not length. Wide runs 13 mm bigger around the foot at the instep, the midfoot and the ball, and 5 mm across the widest point, so the whole front half of the boot opens, not just the toe. The length of every size stays exactly where it is, and so does the height above your toes.
I have wide feet. Should I just go up a size?
No, and it is the mistake we most want to save you from. A bigger size only adds length: your toes get spare room they never asked for, your heel starts lifting, and the pinch across the ball stays right where it was. Measure your foot, order that size, and switch the fit to Wide. That is where the extra room lives.
How do I know Wide is the right call for me?
A few tells. Shoes that fit you for length still pinch across the ball. For years you have gone a size up only to get width. Laces will not close over a high instep without pressing. Any one of those, choose Wide. None of them, Standard is the fit every Edition was built on. Still torn? The Size Chart lists the same tells with the full figures.
Does Wide look bulkier from the outside?
Hardly. Seen from above, the widest point gains 5 mm. Length, toe height and the print itself are identical to Standard. Most of the extra is girth, and girth shows far less than width does.
Wide foot or wide calf, which one is this?
Wide foot. The extra 13 mm goes around the foot: ball, midfoot, instep. This is an ankle boot that laces the full height of its shaft, so the opening adjusts to you, but we do not publish a calf figure, because no one here has put a tape to one yet. If the calf is the part you are unsure about, email cs@sunayla.com with your calf measurement and we will tell you honestly.
Can I put my own orthotic or insole in?
Yes. The insole comes out, and an orthotic goes in its place. If you plan to wear one and your length falls between two rows, take the half size up.
Do the boots run small or big? Do different designs fit differently?
All ten Editions are the same boot in the same two fits; only the print changes. So the chart reads the same for every design, and you should order by measurement rather than by the size you usually buy. Measure your longer foot late in the day, add 1 cm for toe room, and take the first Size Chart insole figure that is at least that number.
My measurement sits between two sizes. Up or down?
Take the half size up if thick socks, an orthotic, or evening swelling are part of your day. Hold the smaller row if you prefer a snug boot and your socks are thin. A half size buys length only. Width comes from the Wide fit, never from the next row.
What if the size is wrong when they arrive?
You get one size exchange on the order. It can take you two sizes away from the number you first chose, so long as you write inside 30 days of the box arriving. That exchange is there for you whether you answer yes or no to the protection question on this page. The one thing Return & Exchange Protection decides is the shipping on it: with the cover, we pay for the pair to travel back and the new one to travel out; without it, both of those sit on your account. Email cs@sunayla.com with your order number and where it fails you, across the instep, at the heel, or at the toes, and we agree the right size before the new pair is cut. Need to swap a second time on the same order? That one costs, and we tell you the amount up front so you can decide with the number in hand. Full terms on the Return & Refund page.
What is the material?
Premium Microfiber Leather on every Edition: the printed microfiber this line is built on, chosen because it takes the print the same way from pair to pair. The two fits and the twenty sizes are the same across the line.
How long until they are on my feet?
Your pair is made after you order: 5 to 10 business days at the workshop, then the journey, 7 to 15 business days inside the United States and longer abroad. Most pairs land two to five weeks after checkout. The Shipping tab above the reviews has the full table by region.
What does shipping cost?
The first pair carries the charge and every further pair on the same order adds $9.99. Inside the United States that is $14.99 for one pair, $24.98 for two, $34.97 for three. Canada opens at $16.99, and the United Kingdom, the EU, Australia, New Zealand and the rest of our list open at $14.99. Socks post on their own at $4.99 a pair and tote bags at $6.99 each, the same price everywhere and whether or not boots travel with them, so one pair of boots and one pair of socks to a US address comes to $19.98, and a pair of boots with a tote comes to $21.98. The exact figure appears at checkout once you enter an address, and nothing is added after you pay. Full detail on the Shipping & Delivery page.
