Look hard at the middle of that flower.

Start at the centre

There is a round of sage green at the core of it, ringed and ringed again with tiny gold dots and fenced in a gold sawtooth. A rust circle is set inside that, and on the rust, in cream, a peace sign. It is a small mark on a large bag. It is also the thing the woman behind you in the coffee queue will spot, and she will have drawn her own conclusion about you while the two of you are still waiting.

Then everything around it

Petals open out from that centre in a wide ring, pointed at the tips, in rust and gold and cream. The stem runs down in sage with one long leaf reaching out each way. Gold teardrops fall loose around the flower and cream four-pointed sparks fill the gaps. All of it on chocolate brown, and the brown has mandala and paisley run through it a shade deeper, out to the seams on every side, so there is a second thing waiting once the flower has finished with you.

The other face is three flowers, and quieter

One gold sunflower unfolding from a sage cup drawn in bare outline, up on a long stem. One round gold flower with a spiral wound into the middle of it. And one sage bud still closed, left as line and never filled in. A tendril curls off between them, two gold petals drift down, the cream sparks come back. Same brown underneath, same pattern hiding in it.
