Description

On the tongue, a lotus that has not opened yet.

It sits there closed, cream running down into blush, drawn round in a hairline of gold, two sage leaves cupping it from underneath. Three gold dots climb from its tip to a pair of four-point sparks, and the tongue behind it carries its own mandala, a shade down from the wine.

On the side of the boot the same flower is wide open: three rows of petals, cream at the tips and blush toward the middle, edged and veined in gold, around a dotted gold seed pod half hidden by one leaning petal. Sage leaves fan out beneath it, three petals float free above it near the collar, and gold sparks are thrown over the flower and under the leaves. Beside the other row of eyelets it comes back smaller, in flat cream, blush and sage shapes. And on each toe, a lotus in gold line only, the wine showing through every petal and sparks all round it. The mandala turns up again at the heel and in a scalloped band behind the toe. A great deal of flower to be walking about in, which is the point.

What makes it a winter boot

Each shaft ends in a thick ring of cream pile, deep and fluffy, tipping in over the print's top edge. The inside is padded, softly, and that padding is why these are warm. Below that, a chunky lugged sole, squared off at its edge, with deep cleats sunk into the underside. Black laces: every row starts with two closed studs tucked under the trim, with five open eyelets under those for the laces, plus a black lace loop on the tongue. The toe is round and full, with room for a whole lotus.

Twenty of them, US 4.5 to 14, one at every half size, so the size you already take is on the list, not the nearest one to it. None of the twenty exists until it is ordered: yours is cut and printed against your order, so the one you need cannot be the one that has run out, and the pair you open was nobody's before it was yours.

What sizes do these come in?

US 4.5 to 14, every half size, twenty sizes in all. Order by the size your foot measures rather than the size you usually buy: the run and the measuring guide live on the Size Chart.

Is there a wide fit on the Winter Boots?

Not on this line. The Wide fit is built into the Leather Boots, where every size comes in Standard and Wide and Wide runs 13 mm bigger around the foot. If room across the ball of the foot is the thing you need most, start there.

Will my size sell out?

No. Every pair is printed, cut and assembled after you order, so there is no shelf for a size to run out of and no half size that quietly disappears. What that buys you is availability, not speed: the workshop still needs its 5 to 10 business days.

How long until they are on my feet?

Your pair is made after you order: 5 to 10 business days at the workshop, then the journey. Inside the United States that journey runs 7 to 15 business days, the United Kingdom 10 to 18, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the EU 10 to 20, everywhere else 15 to 25. Most pairs land two to five weeks after checkout, and the Shipping tab above carries the same table.
